AAA Air Support Is International – IsraelMatt Kerster
One of the inescapable facts of the aerospace industry is it’s inherently global and international nature.
According to one source, there are over 15,000 airports in the world. And these are just the larger airports. This number does not include the thousands of private airfields, small rural airstrips, heliports, and other nominal facilities.
In fact, the only country without an airport is Vatican City!
Of these thousands of airports around the globe, a significant number of them are categorized as ‘international’ airports meaning that they are typically equipped with customs and immigration facilities to handle international flights to and from other nations.
Aerospace Industry in Israel
Israel is a nation that is often at the center of international news and, at times, controversy. And, for a nation that only boasts a population of just 9.6 million residents, it has an oversized impact on the world stage.
With just 0.1 percent of the world’s population in a country that is only 8,630 square miles (22,145 sq.km), it shouldn’t be surprising that there are just three international airports in Israel.
These facilities are Ramon Airport (ETM) located in Eilat, Haifa Airport (HFA) in Haifa, and the well-known Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) in the city of Tel Aviv.
Ramon Airport is the second largest of the three facilities with the potential for handling up to two million passengers a year. Haifa Airport was established by the British Mandate in 1934 as its first international airport at the location of RAF Station Haifa.
Ben Gurion Airport is the main international airport of Israel and the busiest one in the country. The airport is located on the northern outskirts of the city of Lod, northwest of Jerusalem and southeast of Tel Aviv. As recently as 2019, Ben Gurion Airport handled 24.8 million passengers.
In addition, the airport is widely considered to be among the five best airports in the Middle East, largely due to its passenger experience as well as its high level of security.
With over 70 international and local airlines operating at the airport, along with almost a dozen cargo airlines on site, Ben Gurion presents a large volume of aircraft repair and maintenance work that often requires the services of companies like AAA Air Support.
A vital part of our world-class customer service includes the ability to communicate with our international customers 24/7 as we are staffed to respond to any and all urgent inquiries.
