BAC1496-444

BAC1496-444

BAC1496-444 is a formed channel and angle shapes primarily used for maintenance and is available in sheet specifications it is readily available for aircraft on ground (AOG) requirements as well as other less time sensitive uses at AAA Air Support. Standard lengths are 12 feet long in 7075 T62 clad.

7075-T62 aluminum is a type of 7075 aluminum furnished in the T62 temper. To achieve this temper, the metal is solution heat-treated and artificially aged until it meets standard mechanical property requirements. Alloy 7075 is used in airframe structures and other highly stressed components.

7075 alloy uses zinc as the primary alloying element. It typically has 1%-8% zinc along with small amounts of magnesium and lesser quantities of copper and chromium. It is one of the strongest of the aluminum alloys with a strength comparable to many steels. The high strength levels are achieved through precipitation hardening. In addition, 7075 has good fatigue strength with only average machinability.

Although it has lower corrosion resistance than many other aluminum alloys, it does have significantly better corrosion resistance than the 2000 alloys. 7075-T62 is often used over 2024 when higher mechanical properties are desired.
