AAA Air Support has a distinguished reputation as a significant part of the growing international aerospace industry.
Building on their established leadership in the domestic aerospace market, AAA Air Support is making great strides in the global aerospace and aviation market, as well.
In the realm of international aerospace players, the United States continues to lead the world when it comes to the sheer number of its airports and aircraft.
Along with the United States, there are dozens of nations in the world with both domestic and international airports, along with varying degrees of aerospace and aviation industry participation. And, while the U.S. leads the world in this arena. There are several other large commercial aviation markets.
India is among the largest of these international markets with domestic air travel demand steadily increasing year after year. For example, as recently as October 2020, prior to the coronavirus pandemic, India saw a 33 percent increase over the previous month in passenger volume.
Aerospace Industry in India
The Aerospace and Defence (A&D) market in India is estimated to reach around $70 billion by 2030 as the momentum is expected to further pick up with improving infrastructure and government thrust.
According to a report by the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF) from the end of Q4 2020,
“In India, the aerospace industry is growing significantly with the rising activities from both the defence and civil aviation sector. With increasing demand for large aircraft from Indian carriers, many of India’s aerospace services and manufacturing activities are expected to be carried out. Similarly, as India’s defence capital expenditure spending is continuously growing, there are also many opportunities in defence aerospace. This offers opportunities for start-ups as well as further expansion for existing players.”
This has been evident from the numerous companies that have made substantial progress in developing India as a preferred destination for aero structures, components, sub-assemblies, and complex system assemblies.
In addition, several leading international OEMs have established joint ventures in India to manufacture aerospace related parts and assemblies, many of which find their way into many commercial as well as defense aircraft and helicopters.
Airports and Ground Support in India
In a nation of over 1.4 billion people, travel support is a vital necessity. In addition to the sheer size and rugged terrain of the country, international travel to and from India almost always requires aircraft.
Consequently, India has developed quite an extensive aerospace and aviation infrastructure over the last several decades.
There are currently 17 international airports in India, the largest being:
- DEL/Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi
- BOM/Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai
- MAA/Chennai International Airport in Chennai
- BLR/Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru (Bangalore)
- COK/Cochin International Airport in Kochi
In terms of sheer volume of air traffic, India is a world leader with an estimated 66.5 million international air passengers in 2020 and an additional 274.5 million domestic travelers flying across the country.
While these numbers were just slightly less than the previous year – a record number in 2019 – it was vastly greater than the 10 million international and just over 100 million domestic passengers that flew during the fiscal year 2021 and the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The good news is, as in most other nations toward the end of 2021, passenger totals were increasing exponentially.
As The Times of India reported in November 2021, a record 338,000 passengers had boarded over 2,500 domestic flights on October 31, 2021, the highest per day volume of passengers and flights flown since March 23 of the previous year.
