AAA Air Support Is International – Aerospace Industry United Arab Emirates

AAA Air Support continues to develop several well-established working relationships within the growing international aerospace industry.  We have garnered a solid reputation among many long-standing members of the aerospace field.

Launching off from our solid leadership in the U.S. domestic aerospace market, AAA Air Support continues to expand and grow both stateside and overseas, making favorable inroads into the global aerospace and domestic aviation market.

Among the various international aerospace players, the United Arab Emirates and their partners in the Middle East have become a robust and growing leader.

As the Trade.gov website notes,

UAE government initiatives and investment in the aerospace industry have driven robust demand for business partnerships and helped the UAE outpace other regional markets.  These initiatives include the offset program, industrial clusters, university programs, etc.”

In 2019, prior to the coronavirus pandemic, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) estimated that the UAE’s aviation transport industry supported nearly 800,000 jobs; contributing close to $47.4 billion to the annual Gross Domestic Product, approximately.  This is 13.3 percent of the United Arab Emirates’ GDP.

This was composed of $19.3 billion from airlines and their supply chains with more than $28 billion from the aviation-supported foreign tourism sector.

Among several reasons for UAE’s emergence as a leader in the aerospace manufacturing sector, is that the UAE’s labor costs are 40 to 50 percent lower than those in the United States.  It has shown recently, that, as wages in UAE grow, their overall productivity also increased.

A Brief Look at the Aerospace Industry in UAE

In addition to their expansion in the field of airlines, aerospace supply chains, and the aviation-based foreign tourism industry, the UAE has expanded its vision beyond “the friendly skies.”

The U.S. International Trade Commission noted a few years ago that,

The UAE is committed to establishing itself as a regional hub for civil and commercial space activities. It created the UAE Space Agency (UAESA) in 2014, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in 2015 in Dubai.”

During a Space Agency conference in late 2021, Omran Sharaf, Chairman UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, was quoted as saying,

“Previously, a few organizations, mostly government owned were involved in the space sector.  But now there are many companies in the space technology making collaborations easy.  The UAE is playing a crucial role in changing the space sector into collaboration with different stakeholders to work on specific space projects.  This costs less and things are done in a short period of time.”

Sharaf added: “Collaborations speeds up and accelerates things and this is what the UAE is up to. Calling on governments and organizations to collaborate in the development of the space sector.”

A Brief Look at International Airports and Ground Support in UAE

In 2020, the United Arab Emirates had an estimated population of close to 9.9 million.  The inbound tourism expenditure in the UAE for 2019 accounted for 118.6 percent share of the outbound tourism expenditure, according to an entry in Wikipedia.

It is estimated that the travel and tourism industry will contribute about 280.6 billion United Arab Emirati dirham (USD76.38 billion) to the UAE’s GDP by 2028.

As the busiest international airports throughout UAE, the top commercial service airports include:

  1. Abu Dhabi International Airport
  2. Al Bateen Executive Airport
  3. Al Ain International Airport
  4. Dalma Airport
  5. Dubai International Airport
  6. Al Maktoum International Airport

According to one government website

Local airport authorities have partnered with companies to bring in the latest technological innovations for passenger attraction and satisfaction including duty free services, hospitality, ground handling, catering, and FBO.  New catering and FBO facilities will need to be developed to further expand ground handling and catering.

The UAE aims to establish itself as a hub for MRO. With 46 GCAA-registered MRO companies in the UAE, the country possesses excellent capability in aircraft MRO despite the challenging sandy, hot, and dry conditions.  Eleven companies are working in Dubai in aircraft maintenance and repair and two in simulation manufacturing.”
