New Shear Provides Ability to Supply Small Quantities for AOG

One of the key elements of being able to provide a “rapid response” solution for AOG requirements is having both the raw materials and the right tools in one place.

At AAA Air Support we are constantly striving to elevate our capabilities and our new tool acquisition is a major step in that direction.

AOG (Aircraft on Ground) is a term used when a mechanical problem in an aircraft that deems it as unsafe for flying. And it can be costly for an airline or charter company. In fact, a recent study indicated that AOG situations for smaller airlines can cost them more than $20,000 a day, while larger airlines in the U.S. can lose up to $150,000 an hour.

New Shear for Small Quantities

Sometimes the smallest of parts can cause an aircraft to be grounded and these small quantities can be difficult to source, especially when time is of the essence.

One of the key elements of being able to provide a rapid response solution for AOG requirements is having both the raw materials and the right tools in one place.

At AAA Air Support we are constantly striving to elevate our capabilities and our new tool acquisition is a major step in that direction.

We recently added a key piece of equipment to our stable of fabrication tools – a Lodge & Shipley model 0210 shear.

The Lodge & Shipley model 0210 is a large capacity shear capable of cutting material up to .200 thick and allows us to supply small quantities cut to size.

With our new shear in place we can now cut sheet material in-house and respond even quicker to requests for small pieces of sheet in time sensitive AOG situations. This also means that we can respond quickly to AOG sheet requirements, without having to outsource our cutting as we have done in the past.

Anything from 1 SF of material up to multiple sheet requirements can be processed and shipped all over the world.

Rapid Response for AOG Requests

This new shear allows AAA Air Support to provide an even more rapid response for AOG requirements, the critical service that customers need.
Our Gardena office has the distinct service of on-line ‘live chat’.

We encourage customers to check inventory, pricing, lead-times, material certification, and any and all other questions relevant to our industry. We offer this service as a convenience to the busy, challenged, and dedicated purchasing agents.

Regardless of whether you need 100 feet of an aluminum extrusion, or just a few feet of stainless-steel tubing, AAA Air Support promises to always ship out your Aircraft on Ground solution quickly and efficiently, providing your company with the means to get that airplane off the ground and back in the air.

Our fully staffed Aircraft on Ground desk is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day, which means we are prepared to help you with any AOG requirement 24/7. (at 888-538-1300 or aog@aaaairsupport.com)
